Well, Google is courting entertainment marketers apparently. The piece explains how new Google film listings are making studio bosses nervous. There's some classic old-world thinking
If I'm a movie studio, I'd want the official movie Web site to come up as a result, and I wouldn't want to pay for that. It makes me nervous that they're trying to be too much to everybody
I bothered to read the article because I'm still forging ahead with my search for a new advertising. Actually, it's increasingly looking like the agencies are drinking the Cool-Aid and getting on with the new order.
For my part, I'm about half way through (and two weeks behind schedule) building a tool that will allow entertainment marketers to tap their activity directly into their potential fan bases.
More on this one as it happens...

bq.. I read the whole article. In fact I was thinking of buying Google ads for Manasarovar - searching for 'Watermans Center', or 'Indian Films UK' will get a text ad for Manasarovar. But after some calculation I realsed the pay per click model employed by Google is too costly for us.
And for a fragmented media market like UK, small timers like us have no chance of getting noticed. The journalists wont even do a review unless you buy ads or conduct exclusive screenings for them. I sent them DVDs in advance and asked them to review - they will not even reply to my emails.
So the only marketing I can do sitting outside UK is contacting bloggers like you and hoping you will mention the film. The competition is credible - anyone going to Watermans center can chose between Martin Scorceses 120 million dollar 'The Aviator' or our 40000 million dollar almighty epic 'Manasarovar'.
Now about movie studios wanting their websites to be on top - that is not going to happen with Googles mode of finding results based on how many are linking to the site. For example - if you search 'Warner Brothers' you may get the company website - but if you search one of their films, you may not get that films official website. That is how Google does stuff.
